Event info

On Wednesday 3rd June we're celebrating Global Running Day and inviting you to celebrate with us by running at least 1 mile (1.6km) on June 3rd. Regardless of what country your running in let's come together and celebrate running on a global scale.

For every mile you run on this date, you'll receive an entry into our grand prize draw, giving you a chance to win prizes including running kit and fitness trackers.  For more information, please refer to the prizes section below.

That's not all:  in the spirit of the #Run1Tag1 we'll also be giving you one extra entry to the prize draw for every friend that you encourage to run on this day - just ask them to register and mention your name in their registration.

Register FREE for this virtual run which allows you to run at any time and on any route - you can be in your home on a treadmill, in the garden or around your lounge and, if the local laws allow, you can run in your neighbourhood whilst maintaining social distance protocols - it's your choice.

Please note, this initiative is supported by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, however, participation is open to everyone. You do not need to be a resident of the UAE to join and celebrate Global Running Day with us on June 3rd.

How to participate:

1. Register for the event.

2. Connect either your Strava Account or your Fitbit account to your inphota profile.

3. If you do not have a Strava or Fitbit account, you can upload your results manually (steps found below ‘how to log a time’).

4. Begin running.

How to log a time

Strava or Fitbit connection:  If you choose to automatically sync your results, once you've registered and connected your chosen device, please record your run how you usually would.  Once saved, your run will be automatically synced and will be added to the leaderboard. Please ensure your Strava activity visibility is set to "everyone" (your profile can still remain private).  Any other visibility will not be counted towards the leaderboard.

Manual submission:  If you choose to upload your results manually, there is a manual submission tab labelled 'submit manual results' found above 'recent attempts' (visible once registered for the event).  Please submit your results along with image proof of your running distance, date and pace to log any attempts towards the event.

Please note

We recommend that if running indoors you check your device settings to run with GPS turned off or on an indoor running setting to record distance accurately.  The Strava application does not support indoor runs.

The leaderboard will display the furthest running distance in a single activity, please note that in order to qualify for the leaderboard you must run at least 1 mile (1.6km).

What are time challenges?

Time challenges provide a way to register for and complete a real-world course at a convenient time. By pairing your Strava account you can record your time over the selected course using a mobile phone or connected wearable device. Once the activity has been completed you will be added to the leaderboard and will have the opportunity to attempt the course as many times as you like during the event dates to improve your position.

What are challenges?

Similar to time challenges, inphota challenges allow for completion of an activity without the need for a real-world course, or a pre-arranged gathering. By pairing your Fitbit account you can record your activity when convenient, and it will be counted towards the challenge that you register for. You have the opportunity to attempt the challenge as many times as you like during the challenge period to improve your position.

Prizes and rewards will be fulfilled upon completion of the challenge.

When will I appear?

Our leaderboards for this challenge show the best efforts by people who have registered for this contest, and completed a qualifying activity using their wearable device. For time challenges this must be a device which uploads to Strava, otherwise a Fitbit device.

To be considered for the leaderboard you have to follow several steps:

  1. Sign up for the contest that you're interested in
  2. Connect your Fitbit or Strava account to your inphota account so that we know when you attempt the challenge
  3. Complete a qualifying activity (as many time as you like!)
  4. Upload your workout

That's it! Just use your Fitbit or Strava account as you normally would, and we will automatically download the activity and put you on the leaderboard. Please note that this process can take up to an hour after you complete the upload.

If you're having problems, or you've done an effort that isn't appearing after this time, then please get in touch with our in-site chat system.
